Asbestosis :- Fibrosis or scarring of the
lungs, causes by exposure to asbestos dust. The condition developers
slowly and incapacitates the victim over a long period of years.

Pleural Plaques :- Are raised areas of thickened
pleura which can be seen on x - rays. The pleura are a two - layered
membrane which surrounds the lungs and lines the inside of the rib cage.

Pleural Thickening :- Thickening of the lung
walls due to scarring caused by asbestos which may cause breathlessness.

Mesothelioma :- A form of cancer almost exclusively
caused by exposure to asbestos dust. It affects the lining of the lungs,
chest wall or abdomen. The development of the disease can take up to 10 - 15
to 40 + years after first being exposed to asbestos dust.

Lung cancer :- There is a known association between
Lung Cancer and exposure to asbestos dust. People who have already developed
asbestosis have a greater risk of contracting lung cancer.

indicate that smoking increases the risk of developing an asbestos related
